Dr. Robert Reed Cabral Pediatric Hospital inaugurated the first fiberoptic bronchoscopy unit with the aim of providing advanced and high quality medical care to children and their families in the treatment of respiratory diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia and other conditions.
Dr. Clemente Terrero, director of Robert Reed Cabral, said the new unit for diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases is the first of its kind in the country and will be able to treat a variety of respiratory conditions in children.
Terero explained that fiberoptic bronchoscopy is a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure used to control bleeding from the respiratory tract, remove foreign bodies, identify lung infections such as tuberculosis, and In those areas, diagnostic samples of the tumor are taken.
On his part, Dr. Carmen Espilette, Head of the Pulmonology Service, highlighted the importance of the unit in the medical care of children: “The opening of this fibrobronchoscopy unit is a great achievement for the hospital and for the health of children. The Fiberoptic Bronchoscopy Unit is located on the second level of the national reference pediatric hospital, has state-of-the-art technology and a highly trained team of doctors and nurses with expertise in pediatric health care.
