MONROE, Louisiana (NWN) – Chandler Rogers threw four touchdown passes, including 81 yards to Will Derrick, and UL Monroe beat South Alabama 41-31 on Saturday night.
Rogers had 25 of 35 passes for 369 yards. Derrick had five receptions for 135 yards and Andrew Henry had 18 passes for 88 yards and an ULM score (4-3, 2-2 at the Sun Belt conference).
Rogers connected with Fred Lloyd Jr. for a 21-yard touchdown to cap the 75-yard drive with six games and make it 31-31 from 3:57 to the end of the third quarter. South Alabama lost three and came out in the subsequent possession, and two games after ULM 19, Derrick ran a seam run down the right edge and retreated to the left touchline while he ran untouched for the valiant TD.
Jake Bentley completed 30 of 41 assists for 320 yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions for South Alabama (4-3, 1-3). He hit Jalen Talbert in 8 and 40 yards on the Jaguars’ first two possessions in the second half, making the score 31-24 – South Alabama’s first lead – from 6:24 to the end of the third quarter. Tolbert finished with 10 receptions for 155 yards.
