New Delhi: On Thursday, the match between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals was played under the 7th match of IPL. In this match Delhi Capitals lost by 3 wickets. After the match, Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting has been upset with a decision by captain Rishabh Pant.
Ponting even said that he would sit down and talk to the captain about this. Ricky Ponting admitted that Captain Pant made a “mistake” by giving Marcus Stoinis an over instead of handing over the fourth over to Ravichandran Ashwin.
Ponting argued that Ravichandran Ashwin was bowling well and gave just 14 runs in three overs without eating a boundary. After this, Stoinis was bowled in place of Ashwin in the 14th over and in the same over, David Miller hit three consecutive fours for 15 runs.
Earlier, the Royals needed 90 runs off 48 balls, while after this over, they had to score 75 runs from 42 balls.
Ponting said in the post-match press conference that there is definitely something we will talk about when I get a chance to sit with the team. He said, Ashwin bowled brilliantly. Conceded just 14 runs in three overs.
Ashwin has worked really hard over the last few days to ensure that he adjusts to the game and gets things right. Chris Morris scored an unbeaten 36 off 18 balls to give the Royals an unexpected win in the Indian Premier League.
