Ryan Reynolds explains why Green Lantern was a failure

Ryan Reynolds has made a name for himself in the Hollywood industry, all because of his roles in the most familiar movies. A few years ago, he ventured into superhero movies through Green Lantern – 26%, a movie he believed would enter the big leagues of cinema. This production was a complete failure and all the plans that Warner and DC had for their character were stopped. In a new interview with Variety, the actor explained what went wrong with that candle.

Released in 2011 and based on the DC Comics comic book character of the same name, Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, an experimental pilot who becomes the first human to join the Green Lantern Force, an intergalactic group of protectors of the universe who use special rings to create objects of pure light. The story begins with a member of the Green Lanterns named Abin Sur crashing into Earth, giving Hal his ring and lantern. Hal joins the Green Lanterns and begins his training with his mentor Sinestro, while fighting the threat of the villain Parallax, a dark energy that threatens to destroy the entire universe.

Too many people are spending too much money and when it’s a problem, instead of saying, “Okay, let’s spend on special effects and think about the characters. How do we improve this great show? We don’t need it.” and that simply never happened, there was never a reason to do it. That’s a very old way of looking at things. It was just ‘let’s waste time on this.’ they had a great time, we love shooting it. It’s even fun to shoot in the air. But, you know, sitting in that premiere, watching, oh my gosh. It’s the hardest thing.

Although the film boasts stunning visuals and exciting action, it received mixed reviews from critics and was not a huge box office success, bringing in only $219 million, a dismal figure that killed all of Reynolds’ hopes of moving forward; He made it quite clear with one of the most hilarious scenes in Deadpool 2 – 85%

Of course, Ryan is still in the superhero world and with the character that everyone knows and loves. Even though Deadpool has become part of Disney, we’re lucky that Ryan Reynolds’ character will continue. The third installment of the mercenary from Marvel Studios will be a kind of reboot of the character, a proposition full of comedy, ready to achieve the best numbers in the box office. The official MCU schedule revealed a few weeks ago that it will hit theaters on November 8, 2024, so it will be a long time until the final event is witnessed.

Fox has held the rights to the movie and many of its amazing characters for more than 20 years. The studio could produce numerous films about these characters, recording huge hits and flops that send chills down your spine. Marvel’s films licensed by Fox were in full swing, until the company finally had to say goodbye with X-Men: Dark Phoenix – 29%. Marvel Studios has taken the stage for all the rights, and now fans are excited to see what’s next for the multi-billion dollar franchise. Will DC Studios be able to take on the MCU now that James Gunn has announced a reboot?
