He elaborated that to identify this, a comprehensive evaluation of the eyeball is performed and in case of clinical suspicion, more specific studies are requested, as well as an evaluation of the optic nerve and an optical coherence tomography is done.
Once the diagnosis is confirmed, he added, treatment begins, which can be pharmacological or surgical and involves regulating intraocular pressure with the aim of halting the course of the disease that damages the optic nerve. In addition, medical follow-up includes consultations and periodic examinations for the control and monitoring of this pathology.
