Salud performs kidney transplant for the benefit of a patient at Hospital General del Sur

Beneficiary’s family thanked him for this charitable gesture of saving life after death

City of Puebla, Pu. , As a result of a multi-organ donation from a brain-dead patient due to a car accident, on this day the Hospital General del Sur performed a kidney transplant on a 43-year-old male who needed a kidney to continue with his quality of life. ,

This was informed by the Health Secretary, José Antonio Martínez García, while specifying that the multi-organ procurement was carried out by specialists from the said hospital.

The donated organs were sent to the following institutions: the other kidney to ISSSTEP, the liver to the “Salvador Zubiran” National Institute of Nutritional and Medical Sciences, and a cornea to the Cholula Hospital for analysis.

Martínez García said the patient who received the kidney at the Hospital General del Sur is originally from Tezutlán and has limited economic resources, adding that he had been treated six years earlier with a diagnosis of kidney failure. .

Furthermore, the officer remarked that the beneficiary’s family thanked him for this altruistic gesture of saving lives after death.

Finally, the Secretary of Health invited the people of Puebla to continue organ donation and reminded that there are approximately 1,390 people on the waiting list for kidney transplants based on the information system of the National Transplant Registry.
