Samsung C&T Renewables and Sunraycer Renewables announce 3GW solar energy project in Texas

Samsung C&T Renewables, the U.S. renewable energy group of South Korea’s Samsung C&T Corp., has announced a partnership with Sunraycer Renewables for a 3 GW solar and energy storage project in Texas. This collaboration includes the sale and development of 15 projects in Texas, including six solar projects and nine energy storage projects.

The 3GW project will cover 6,100 acres and has the potential to power approximately 600,000 U.S. homes for a year. Samsung C&T will bring its experience in the assessments and approvals required for the construction of solar systems.

Sunraycer Renewables, an American renewable energy company, specializes in asset acquisition, joint development, investment and operations. They will take the lead on these projects and work to begin commercial operations between 2025 and 2026.

This partnership reflects Samsung C&T’s commitment to strengthening its presence in the renewable energy market in the United States. The company’s goal is to diversify and expand its energy portfolio from solar photovoltaics to energy storage systems. Currently, Samsung C&T has a total capacity of 16.2 GW, including 14.9 GW in the USA and 1.3 GW in Australia. The goal is to increase capacity to 25 GW by 2025.

The collaboration between Samsung C&T Renewables and Sunraycer Renewables not only represents a significant expansion of the trading company’s business model, but also demonstrates its commitment to promoting renewable energy in the United States. Given the growing demand for clean and sustainable energy, this project will contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and further developing the renewable energy industry.
