There is nothing like the power to choose. Samsung added a simple detail that users highlighted on social networks. Those who test the beta version of the One UI 6 customization layer based on Android 14 will find that the system also allows certain applications to be updated in addition to Android updates.
On previous occasions, Samsung updated system applications (pre-installed applications not downloaded from Google Play) at the same time as software updates were downloaded to the phone. The problem with this approach is that it reduces the memory of the device. However, this will no longer be the case starting with One UI 6.
When installing the new customization layer, users will notice a small Software Update section that states, “Some applications may be updated along with this software update.” Below is an option that allows the user to select apps to update can. When you click on it, you will be taken to a new settings screen with a list of all Samsung system applications. There you can choose which apps will be updated and which will stay the same until the user chooses to update manually.
If you choose not to update these applications when installing a new version of Android, it is possible that the same apps will update themselves depending on the phone’s configuration. The advantage of avoiding application updates is also that the system can speed up the operating system installation process.
Here’s how to register for Samsung’s Beta One UI program
Don’t think that the beta will reach your mobile phones by itself. You must first register for Samsung’s Beta One UI program by following the steps below:
- Access the Samsung Members application.
- There click on the One UI notice
- Then click “One UI Beta Program Registration” to submit the request via your Samsung account.
Once the above steps are completed and the update is available, go to the banner displayed on the homepage of the Samsung Members application, tap on the “Software Update” option and then tap “Download and Install”.
Remember to have enough battery for the process or connected to power to avoid any breakdowns.
