Sanitas ties up with Nationale Nederlanden to offer health insurance

Sanitas and Nationale Nederlanden go hand in hand. Both the companies have signed an agreement to partner in health and accident insurance. The agreement is part of a Nationale Nederlanden conservation project aimed at the older population.

The project is called Contigo Senior, and offers a bonus of up to 30% of the contracted premium during the first year along with accident and health coverage. The new product includes a home assistant to help with basic household tasks and personal assistance Expansion,

The price offered by Nationale Nederlanden is 42 euros per month for people over 55 years old, 50 euros for 65 year olds and 56 euros for 75 year old customers. The alliance between Sanitas and Nationale Nederlanden comes after the second company obtained authorization from the General Directorate of Insurance and Pensions late last year to operate in the health sector, which it did not yet have.

This business segment is the one that grew the most last year with an advance of 7%, reaching a premium volume of 10,543 million euros. Nationale Nederlanden closed last year with a turnover of 587 million euros, and an annual decrease of 3.4%, according to data from Icea. Its market share is 0.91%.

Last year Sanitas had a premium volume of 1,635 million euros, an increase of 6.9% year on year and a market share of 2.53% in total insurance. With these figures, the company is positioned as the second insurer in the ranking of health insurance by premium.

Sanitas adds to the agreement signed with the Nationale Nederlanden for those already deployed with other entities, On January 1, it began signing with Generali, through which it makes its entire network of doctors, clinics and hospitals available to its 150,000 current Generali customers in this healthcare coverage that will benefit future customers as well. The agreement runs till 2033

According to the latest annual results available, Sanitas has achieved a profit of 206 million euros in 2021, which translates into a 16% increase compared to 2020.

Also, in 2021, The company’s turnover increased by 9.5% to 2,368 million euros, On the other hand, Sanitas has maintained its employment figures with a total of 11,253 workers. Internationally, Bupa Europe and Latin America businesses had a turnover of 4,660 million euros.

These figures are due to a return to pre-pandemic activity in hospitals and dental clinics, recovery of occupancy in residences and record sales in the insurance business.
