Santoros de Caracas, the absolute champions of Venezuela, are eager to make their debut in the Copa Libertadores Futsal 2023 and hope to surprise in the tournament at the Polidro de Caracas.
Coach Robinson Romero specifically said, “We’re looking forward to a great start on Sunday… so I think we’re going to deliver a surprise in this Libertadores.”
On the opening day, they will face defending champions Deportes Recoleta of Chile. “The best come from each country. It is a team like us that comes with the intention of adding three points, but Santoros de Caracas is ready to face them”, said the helmsman.
Changes in Centaurs
Romero was recently announced as the quintet’s new strategist, but his relationship with the team is long-standing, saying “we’ve been together for about two years now.”
During the results of the Futve Futsal 1 League, David Pinto was appointed as the coach, but seeing the big challenge ahead, the board made adjustments. Despite this, the figure is satisfied with the Pinto’s work.
Another modification was the inclusion of Nelson Bello, a player Romero is confident will do a great job on the court.
“We have made a new inclusion which is Nelson Bello who comes from playing in Europe and I think he will make a significant contribution to the tournament,” he explained.
One of the duels that attracted attention is the third date against Peñarol. Last edition’s runner-up Vinotinto joins the ranks of Alfredo Jesús “Chavela” Vidal, who refines his aim with foreign performers.
“With Chavela’s inclusion, we know he gives a plus to the Uruguayan franchise, but Santoros will want to do his best to score all the necessary points and close the group stage earlier,” he concluded.
The team from Caracas is located in Group C and will face off against the following in the first round:
- ss mouth
- Sports Recoleta
