SAP Spain has held its annual meeting of partners, the Partner Kick Off Meeting 2023, which has been attended by more than 400 people, 80 partners and the company itself. Under the motto The Year of the Community, the key role played by the channel in driving SAP’s business to the cloud was highlighted throughout the event.
The company made the year 2022 more than positive balance, in which the objective of increasing the channel was achieved. As explained by Jose Maria Bornes, Channel Head, SAP Spain, “In 2022 we have worked very intensively and we have added 10 new resellers to the channel. This was an important objective of the year and they are already operating, closing deals and doing business. In 2023, the objective will be to continue to advance in the cloud and take into account the change in mindset that go-to-market implies, while also accompanying customers in their transformation process.
The South EMEA region, which belongs to Spain, has been recognized as the first organization in the world in the field of SAP ecosystem. Its manager, Rafael Brugnini, Chief Partner Officer, EMEA South, highlights that Spain has played a fundamental role in this recognition, always leading the channel indicators. During his speech, he also highlighted the importance of nurturing talented partners. In fact, 10,000 consultants are certified in this field a year.
Key Sectors for 2023
In Spain, the midmarket segment grew 54% over the previous year, and of all cloud sales, 90% were indirect. David Gonzalez Seco, Head of Midmarket and Partner Ecosystem, pointed out that at the moment, there is a clear interest in moving to the cloud in interactions with customers. Thus, the objective for 2023 is to continue promoting RISE with SAP to drive transformation projects and for customers to continue migrating to the cloud, public or private. To achieve this, it is necessary not only to develop ERP, but also to move “satellite” solutions such as Business Intelligence, for example, to the public cloud. Company executives highlighted the great business opportunity in this area and encouraged partners to move from the installed base to the cloud.
The channel continues to be the main driver of business growth as it is in charge of onboarding new customers (net new customers). By 2023, more competencies will be demanded in this sector, for which special attention will be given to partner training.
Business Technology Platform (BTP) has established itself as the basis for performing cloud deployments. The company has encouraged partners to create intellectual property and develop their own solutions on the platform. BTP is also the core on which SAP’s low code and no code solutions are based, allowing business users to develop solutions.
Other key areas for the year that have just begun are line of business, with channels contributing 45% of business in 2022, specifically in the areas of human experience management, customer experience, travel & spend, and digital supply chain .
During the event, the SAP EMEA South Channel Awards were also presented, with two Spanish partners, TechEdge and Seidor, winning more than 50% of the awards.
In the midmarket segment, awards went to Sidor, TechEdge, Alite, T4S Advanced Solutions SL and Nuva, while in the SAP Business One segment they went to MSS Sidor, Inforge and Hanami8 Apps.
