The image of an unusual but above all dirty foul that occurred in a football match in the first division of Honduran football in the 2023 Apertura tournament is going around the world.
The foul was committed last weekend by defender André Orellana in the game of his club Marathon against Olimpia, which is considered one of Honduras’ great classics.
After Orellana sees a lost ball, he decides to throw himself forward in a “plank” with which he hits two of the Olimpia players. After the incident, the two footballers who suffered the violation remained lying on the ground.

The referee of the match expelled Orellana from the pitch without hesitation after observing the “iron” that caused severe pain to the two Olimpia players.
After Orellana finished the game, he realized the impact his violation had not only on national football but on the whole world and decided to post an apology on his social networks.
“Honduran football fans, I would like to sincerely apologize to my teammates, friends, professional colleagues and the fans of both clubs for the aggressive act I committed during the game. “My behavior was unacceptable and I take full responsibility for my actions,” Orellana wrote.
The remorseful defender described his foul as “unjustified” and described the two players affected by his infraction as “two teammates he respects and considers “friends and football brothers.”
“So I want to make it clear that it had nothing to do with personal problems. “I let myself get carried away by the excitement of the game, but that doesn’t justify my behavior at all.” the aforementioned footballer.
The 21-year-old stated that he is aware that he is young and has the opportunity to “correct this and other mistakes.”
“I am committed to learning from this experience and demonstrating exemplary behavior on and off the field in the near future.” I apologize again to everyone affected by my actions. I promise to work hard to right this wrong. and regain the trust of my colleagues, friends and hobbies,” he said.
Meanwhile, the game ended in a 1-0 win for Olimpia, who lead the league with 17 points in seven games.
