Schubert Club announces 2021-22 Accordo and Schubert Club Mix season

Schubert Club has announced the lineup for the 13th season of Accordo and the 2021–22 lineup for Schubert Club Mix.

After a full season of virtual performances, Accordo, a group of current and former key players from the St. Paul’s Chamber Orchestra and the Minnesota Orchestra, will return to Westminster Presbyterian Church’s Westminster Hall in Minneapolis this year for their four Monday evening performances. All four Monday evening concerts will be repeated in a shortened format the following night at the Icehouse in Minneapolis. The group will reunite their Accordo for the sixth time with the Silent Film Concert by Accordo at the Ordway Concert Hall in downtown St. Paul on May 10, featuring silent films with original live music performed by Accordo.

Monday performances at Westminster Hall are October 18, February 14, March 14 and May 16. Icehouse performances are next night.

Schubert’s Club Mix, now entering its ninth season, is a series that aims to “remove the formality from classical music by presenting intimate performances with artists who have influenced the music landscape.”

The 2021-22 season includes several concerts by the ensemble and the cast, whose performances were originally scheduled for 2020 and 2021, but were canceled due to the pandemic. They are: string quartet Brooklyn Rider with Kahan Kalhor on stage and Mathias Kunzli on percussion (October 29 at the Walker Art Center), piano duo ZOFO (November 17 at Park Square Theater in St. Paul), and a cappella vocal chamber ensemble Style Antico (December 7 at the Landmark Center in St. Paul). The series also includes a performance at the Schubert Club’s 2021–22 feature artist in the arena of Minneapolis on January 11, a program of solo piano works by JS Bach and Philip Glass by pianist Vikingur Olafsson. The Kronos Quartet will give its first performance in the Twin Cities in more than 10 years at the Fitzgerald Theater (March 19). To close the series, Minnesota singer and composer Pavielle French will perform the newly commissioned musical, written by Pavielle, with a group of students at St. The band is shown.
