SCO: India to host Pakistan delegation for SCO border meeting. India News – Nation World News

New Delhi: India will host a Pakistani delegation of military and security officials for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting on issues related to border management later this week. All SCO member states, including Russia and China, are expected to participate in the discussions that begin on June 15 and will conclude at the delegation leaders’ meeting on June 17.
India has not allowed its continuing border conflict with China and stagnation in ties with Pakistan to come in the way of SCO cooperation. The government expects the grouping to abide by the United Nations Charter, its commitment to sovereignty and territorial integrity, peaceful resolution of potential disputes through dialogue and mutual consultation, non-interference in internal affairs and non-use of military force or threats . might.
India also recently hosted a meeting of the SCO – Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) in which Pakistan also participated. Strengthening border security is an important priority area for the SCO, along with efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, extremism and extremism.
In accordance with the 2021 Dushanbe Declaration on the 20th anniversary of the SCO, member-states will continue to have effective cooperation on border issues, including joint border operations, as well as the exchange of information on persons involved in terrorist activities, and jointly combat international terrorist attacks. Will check Crimes through “effective border controls to prevent further cross-border activities by foreign terrorists and terrorist groups”.
India is currently working closely with Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan – all SCO member-states – to ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan and prevent the country from turning into a terrorist safe haven. In November last year, all 4 countries participated in the Delhi Security Dialogue organized by NSA Ajit Doval on the situation in Afghanistan.
While India has accused Islamabad of using the SCO platform to raise bilateral issues in the past, the government last year sent a delegation to Pakistan to participate in an anti-terrorism exercise that values the organisation. It will be interesting to see whether the two sides come up with a proposal for a bilateral meeting between PM Narendra Modi and his counterpart Shahbaz Sharif on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Uzbekistan in September. Modi had twice congratulated Shahbaz after he became prime minister, but India is disappointed by his “personal” attack on Modi by BJP spokespersons condemning the remarks against the prophet.
