General Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today presented the general budget for the country and announced the implementation of a new ‘scrap policy’ to remove old vehicles from the roads. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said the scrapage policy would be implemented in the next 15 days.

In fact, according to this scraping procedure, vehicles running in the country are required to undergo a fitness test as per the schedule. According to this, personal vehicles are required to undergo a fitness test after 20 years and commercial vehicles after 15 years. The fitness test of older trains is done at automated centers.

In this voluntary vehicle scraping process, old and unsuitable vehicles are phased out and phased out. In July last year, the Center proposed to allow amendments in motor vehicle regulations for vehicles older than 15 years. In addition, in the draft notification, it was stated that the renewal of the fitness certificate of the vehicles should be extended to 6 months instead of every year.

Sales of new vehicles increase: After the implementation of this new scraping procedure, vehicles that have expired and failed the test will be sent to scrap. This causes sales of new vehicles to grow rapidly. Apart from this, pollution of old and bad vehicles can also be alleviated. The government’s new policy will greatly benefit the automotive industry.
