The initiative consists of the construction and operation of a wind farm with an output of 528 MW and an attached photovoltaic system with an axis of 675 MW nominal output.
Tuesday, September 12, 2023.- The Environmental Evaluation Service (SEA) has approved the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) of the Ibereólica Renovables Group’s ERNC Antofagasta project, which will be located in the extreme north of the municipality of Taltal, in the Antofagasta region.
With an investment of almost 874 million US dollars, the initiative consists of the construction and operation of a wind farm with 528 MW of power and a photovoltaic system with a subsequent axis of 675 MW of nominal power, so the total installed power of the project will be 1,203 MW and the generated Energy is fed into the National Electric System (SEN) via a high voltage transmission line (LTE) with a total length of 7.72 km.
In addition, the project includes 500 jobs during the construction phase and 80 during operation.
The initiative also envisages the implementation of the following main works:
– A substation of the 33/500 kV photovoltaic system (SET PV), which collects the energy generated in the photovoltaic system.
– An ERNC Antofagasta 33/500 kV Transformer Connection Substation (ERNC SET), which collects the energy generated in the wind farm and in turn receives energy from the photovoltaic system.
– A 16.5 km long 500 kV single circuit power transmission line (LTE PV) starting at SET PV and ending at SET ERNC.
– A 4 km long 500 kV single-circuit power transmission line (LTE ERNC), starting in the SET ERNC and ending in the future SET Parinas 220/500 kV1, to divert the energy of the entire project into the Electric System National.
In addition to the specified main works, the project envisages the preparation of roads (access from Route 5 N, internal roads and LTE access roads), a spare parts warehouse and two weather towers, as well as temporary facilities for the implementation of the project works (two work facilities, concrete plant and laying fields for LTE).
Finally, it is estimated that the construction phase of the ERNC Antofagasta will last 42 months, while the operational phase will last 25 years and 18 months are considered for the completion phase.
