See: Beyond the Canvas. Art is all around us in the latest episode of

In the season three premiere of Beyond the Canvas, we feature five creators who prove that art isn’t just on a stage, screen, or page. Everyone sees the potential of art where the ordinary person cannot, and their creative vision, in turn, allows us all to see the world in a different way. Hosted by PBS NewsHour Chief Correspondent Aamna Nawaz, Beyond the Canvas revisits previous NewsHour Canvas Arts and Culture segments.

This episode, “Art: All Around Us” sheds light on creators ranging from muralists to museum curators. First, we hear from Sean Dunwoody, who creates street art in his hometown of Rochester, New York.

Plus, we speak with Andy Yoder, the conceptual artist behind the exhibit “Overboard.” To illustrate “The Great Shoe Spill of 1990”, he turned trash and scrap materials and rubbish into replicas of Nike shoes. His work speaks to the themes of consumerism and climate.

We also hear from Big Wave surfer and the subject of the documentary “Big vs. Small,” Joanna Andrade. Despite his talent, Andrade is overlooked in his male dominated game.

Next, we talk with Dom Mullins and the all-black mountaineering team called Full Circle Everest. This spring, the team wants to be the first all-black group to summit Mount Everest.

Finally, we join the curators behind the exhibition “¡Pleibo!l: In the Barrios and the Big Leagues”. Exhibits at the Smithsonian Museum of American History in Washington tell the story of Latino baseball pioneers who have made countless contributions to the sport.
