SEGI promotes teacher training in special and inclusive education

Merida, Yucatan, December 28, 2022. — In response to a directive from the Secretary of State for Education, Liborio Vidal Aguilar, to promote inclusion in the classroom and strengthen the work of special education educational personnel, this month he made two key findings about the graduates: “excellent attitudes” and “ Mexican Sign Language”, both this 2023 with a view to improving the integration of the students.

The State Coordinator of the Strengthening of the Special Education Services Program, Genaro Mauricio Burgos Córdova, elaborated the case for the “Excellent Approach” diploma, to a total of one hundred participants, including teachers, directors, academic technical advisors and supervisors of regular units. He also emphasized that the training was conducted by experts from the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) through the Institute of Nuclear Sciences, which is responsible for identifying and involving young talents classified at that time as students with outstanding abilities. stood for

Teacher Burgos Córdova said, “An outstanding student is one who is able to stand out significantly from the social and academic group, whether in a particular subject or more than two.”

In this Diploma, participants learn to identify, intervene, assess and finally channel students through a protocol that responds to their needs and can enhance their skills, “The objective is that these students potential and increase the population of the region,” he stressed.

For its part, the “Mexican Sign Language” diploma was taught by experts from the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos and had the participation of 35 teachers from USAER and the Center for Multiple Attention (CAM), who have students with hearing impairments.

“In this case, what we are promoting is that all these teachers have an interactive link with their students who suffer from this disability and can keep them active in the classroom. Teacher’s example in the student’s environment can bring positive change”, explained the State Coordinator of the Special Education Services Strengthening Program.

These actions respond to the directive of the head of Sege, Liborio Vidal Aguilar, to provide continuous training to educational personnel, which allows them to provide educational responses according to the needs and other conditions presented by their students with disabilities.
