Segob defended the budget for 2024 despite the fiscal deficit

The Secretary of the Interior of Mexico, Luisa María Alcalde defended today, Monday, September 11, the budget project sent last Friday by the Ministry of Finance to Congress, despite the fiscal deficit equal to 4.9% of the gross domestic product (GDP) in 2024, the largest ever in 1988.

“This project includes the amounts necessary to complete the proper Mayan Train project, communication and transportation routes, for the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, for the interurban train of Mexico-Toluca, the suburban train to Felipe Ángeles Airport,” he said.

He also explained that the necessary resources for hydraulic works and social programs are being considered.

“Wellness programs that are rights today. We are talking not only about the senior citizen program, but also about scholarships for students, Youth Building the Future, Sowing Life, the program for people with disabilities, and others,” said the official.

Moreover, he maintained that It is the product of “responsible” management of healthy finances, which was achieved due to two pillars: zero corruption and ending privileges.

“These two pillars are the ones that provide enough funds like the project that is currently being presented for development,” he explained.
