OAKLAND, Calif. ( Associated Press) — Marcus Semien hit his first home run since signing with Texas, hitting a grand slam, Corey Seager and Adolis Garcia homered back-to-back as the Rangers thrashed the Oakland Athletics 11-4 on Saturday.
Texas had 18 hits, its best of the season and the most for the team since Sept. 8, 2019. The Rangers matched their best streak of the season with four wins.
Seven players had more than one hit, including three who had three hits.
Semien played with Oakland from 2015-20 and was an All-Star last year with Toronto before signing with Texas to a seven-year, $175 million deal in the offseason before this season.
The 31-year-old slugger hadn’t homered since October before sending Jake Lemoine’s 0-1 pitch over the center-field fence to reach six career grand slams.
The Rangers won handily after taking the first two of the series in their last at-bat. Texas took advantage of an overstretched A’s bullpen after taking Zach Logue out of the game in the third inning.
Hearn (3-3) allowed three runs, two earned, in six innings. The Rangers left-hander struck out five and walked one.
For the Rangers, Cubans Andy Ibañez 5-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Adolis García 6-2 with a run scored and an RBI.
For the Athletics, Panamanian Christian Bethancourt 4-2 with a run scored; Venezuelan Elvis Andrus 4-1 with a run scored and an RBI and Dominican Cristian Pache 4-1.
