Navigation services in Mexican airspace (Seneam) must provide the names of those who serve as Air traffic controllers without having the necessary training.
The above is done on the instructions of the National Transparency Institute Access to information and protection of personal data (Inai).
A person requested the information from Seneca according to a series of observations from its own Internal Control Board (OIC).
In response, the authority said it had not found a case, so the applicant appealed to the Inai for review.
The case was brought before the Commissioner Norma Julieta del Río Venegas in which the complaint regarding the non-existence of the information was considered to be justified.
It was noted that the obliged entity did not comply with the search procedure because it did not consult all the authorized areas that could have the information.
It was found that, based on the analysis of the observations on the irregularities identified and submitted by the obliged entity’s internal control body, evidence was found that the necessary information exists and should be included in its files.
The Inai Plenum revoked the response of the navigation services in Mexican airspace and directed them to conduct a new, comprehensive and comprehensive search for the requested information.
Safety in flight operations is linked to the professionalism, training, profile and expertise of air traffic controllers, because they are the ones who direct the traffic of aircraft through very precise instructions – to the pilots – during take-offs, landings or even during waiting times they continue to fly over the airspace. This is the magnitude of their responsibility: that of the lives of the people who travel daily on commercial or private flights, but not only Mexican passengers, but also passengers from all over the world,” said Commissioner Norma Julieta del Río Venegas.
