Seoul: North Korea has fired another ballistic missile into the sea

SEOUL, South Korea ( Associated Press) – North Korea launched a ballistic missile toward its east coast on Friday, South Korea’s military said, in an apparent protest to US actions by Pyongyang to strengthen its alliance with South Korea. a day after resuming its weapons testing in the Japan.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement that the launch took place on Friday, but gave no further details, such as the distance the projectile traveled.

It is the latest in a series of missile tests by North Korea in recent weeks. But the country suspended its weapons tests for a week before resuming them with the launch of a ballistic missile on Thursday.

Ahead of Thursday’s launch, the North’s Foreign Minister Cho Son-hui threatened a “more vigorous” military response to the US in order to strengthen its security commitments to South Korea and Japan.

Cho was referring to US President Joe Biden’s recent trilateral summit with his South Korean and Japanese counterparts in Cambodia as part of a regional meeting. In their joint statement, the three leaders strongly condemned North Korea’s recent missile tests and agreed to work together to strengthen deterrence, while Biden vowed to defend their allies with full capability, including nuclear weapons. Reaffirmed the commitment of the States.

North Korea has argued that the presence of US forces in the region is evidence of its hostility towards Pyongyang. He said his recent weapons test was in response to what he described as provocative military maneuvers by the United States and South Korea.
