Seven killed in market blast in southwestern Somalia

At least seven people were killed and 11 injured in a bomb blast targeting a crowded market in south-west Somalia on Friday.

The blast occurred in the city of Bardale, about 60 kilometers west of Baidoa, the provincial capital of the Gulf region.

“The explosive device was placed somewhere in the market, and exploded this morning as shoppers, mainly from rural areas, crowded the market,” city district commissioner Mohammad Isaac Arase told VOA.
