SARATOGA SPRINGS – Shenandoahova scored 36 unanswered points on the road at Saratoga Springs, cruising to a 36-7 Class AA football rivalry win on Friday night.
Plainsmen (5-1 Class AA, 6-1 overall) had five different player scores, including senior running back Michael McElrath on an 8-yard run in the first quarter.
“There were some good holes off the line, just really good interception,” McElrath said. “That’s all you can ask for to get those yards. It’s props for the lineman.”
Shenendhova scored in her first possession, a 24-yard substitute pass from Chase Vincenzi to Luke McAuliffe.
Luke Plumador senior quarterback Mason Courtney ran into the second quarter starting 5 yards before keeping the ball and ran for 15 yards to close the half with a 29–0 lead to score.
“They were a tough opponent tonight, but we came out really quickly,” said Shenendhova’s coach Brian Clausen. “We did really well on the offense and the defense pulled it off. We had a big halftime lead and then we just had to play all our guys and go home. “

With the competition after the first half, Shenendhova fans were eyeing another Class AA clash between Guilderland and Christian Brothers Academy. The Plainsmen will face the CBA next Friday night.
“I DVRed the game, they’re playing Guilderland in a big game right now, so I can’t wait to go home and watch it,” Clausen said.
Guilderland defeated the CBA 17–7. If Shenendhova beat the CBA next week, the plainsmen will be the No. 2 seed for the Class AA playoffs.
“We can be in any of the four” [playoff] Location. We can be home. It’s a wild deal,” Clausen said. “We don’t see players again until Sunday, we have virtual meetings with them and then practice on Sunday nights. That’s when we start establishing our game plan for the CBA.” will do.”
