Shered scores 4 TD MVSU 31-28 as Florida A&M edges

ITTA BENA, Miss. (NWN) — Jah’Marae Sheread scored four touchdowns on Saturday near Russian McKay and Florida A&M held Mississippi Valley State 31-28.

A 19-yard connection with 6:32 in the fourth quarter, a third touchdown between Shered and McKay gave the Rattlers a 31-28 lead. On the next possession the MVSU Rattlers reached the 17-yard-line, but swung the ball down. The Delta Devils did not cross midfield on their only remaining possession.

The Rattlers (5-2, 3-1 SWAC) led most of the game, but trailed 28-24 in fourth place with 7:32 when Delta Devils’ Jalani Eason hit Malik Meyers with a 9-yard TD pass. killed it.

McKay completed 19 of 34 passes for 180 yards with three TDs and two interceptions. Bishop Bennett ran 140 yards on 19 carries. In addition to three touchdown receptions, Shered scored on a 59-yard punt return. He took eight catches for 88 yards.

Eason completed 15 of 21 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown. Jecorie Rankin caught four passes for 147 yards for the Delta Devils (2-5, 1-3).
