What is the Social Security payment schedule for 2024?
According to the SSA schedule, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments are sent out on the first day of each month. If the first day of the month falls on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, the advance payment will be made on the last Friday of the previous month.
On the third day of each month, the money is transferred to beneficiaries who received their payments before May 1997. If the third day falls on a weekend or a holiday, payments will also be brought forward.
For those receiving Social Security benefits (retired, survivor, or SSDI) and SSI at the same time, the SSI payment is sent on the first day of the month and the Social Security payment is sent on the third day.
The rest of the checks will be sent on Wednesdays, depending on the beneficiaries’ date of birth:
- Second Wednesday of the month: Pensioners with a birth date between the 1st and 10th
- Third Wednesday: Eligible persons born between the 11th and 20th
- Fourth Wednesday: Retirees born between the 21st and 31st
It should be noted that if Wednesday is a holiday, payment will be made on the first working day before.

How will payments be sent in 2024?
Social Security payments continue to follow the same formula as previous years: They are sent by direct deposit to beneficiaries who have provided the SSA with a bank account, or by mail, which takes longer to arrive.
