Skoda Slavia coming to compete with Honda City and Hyundai Verna, will get premium features

Czech Republic car maker Skoda is going to launch its mid-side sedan in India soon. The company has recently revealed its name. According to the company, it will be named Skoda Slavia. Skoda Slavia will be the second launch of the year for the company. Earlier, the company has launched the Kushak mid-size SUV in 2021 itself.

The Skoda Slavia will be built on the company’s MQB A0 IN platform. It will get heavy styling and design elements similar to the recently updated models like the Octavia and Superb. According to the information, larger dimensions will be given in this sedan than the current-gen Rapid. It is likely to get projector headlights, signature butterfly-shaped grille, alloy wheels, shark fin antenna and boot-mounted number plate.

Skoda Auto can offer two petrol engine options in its new sedan – 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI. The company has also given the same engine in Skoda Kushak. The engine will be made available in both manual and automatic transmission options. When launched, the Skoda Slavia will face direct competition with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

Skoda will have to play the feature game once again if Slavia is to succeed in the Indian market. It is being offered as a premium offering, so it is expected that the cabin of the car will also be given a premium look. It can get features like a large infotainment screen, multiple speakers, many connectivity options and charging points. The sedan will be launched this year, although the date has not been announced yet.
