SNAP recipients in Texas will see a decrease in their accounts starting in March

SAN ANTONIO – The Texas Health and Human Services Commission announced via its social networks that due to federal guidelines, recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will see a reduction in their accounts.

According to the announcement, the last month of additional SNAP emergency allocations will be released in February 2023.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission said that to find out what your monthly benefit amount would be without an emergency SNAP application, you must log into your account at YourTexasBenefits.com or call 2-1-1.

This additional help came during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Congress recently passed legislation to set February 2023 as when eligible families can receive the additional money.

However, monthly assistance can be purchased by Texans if needed.

What do you need to be eligible for the SNAP program?

The program provides monthly funding for families who need additional financial incentives to purchase food, and people can apply regardless of their immigration status.

The amount provided depends on the size and income of the family. To qualify, the maximum monthly income to receive benefits is $1,869 for a Texan and $3,816 for a family of four.

Once the program is applied for and if people qualify, they receive a Lone Star card that works like a credit card.

Some eligibility conditions include meeting work requirements to be eligible for SNAP such as registering for work, not voluntarily leaving a job or reducing hours, and failure to meet these requirements results in disqualification from the program Might be possible.

Those interested in applying for the program can do so here.
