SNMPE: mining and energy companies confirm investment commitment in Peru

Victor Gobitz Colchado was appointed President of the National Mining, Oil and Energy Society (SNMPE) for the term 2023-2024 by the association’s new Board of Directors, elected by the Assembly of Associates.

Gobitz Colchado, currently the president and general manager of the Antamina mining company, inherited the position from his predecessor, Raul Jacob Ruisánchez, according to tradition.

Victor Gobitz is a mining engineer from the Colchado Ponticia Universidad Católica del Peru (PUCP) and holds an MBA from the ESAN School of Business Administration.

He also has specialized studies at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

He is currently the President and General Manager (CEO) of Compañía Minera Antamina and has previously served as CEO of the mining companies Buenaventura and Milpo. Throughout his professional career, he also held management positions at Retamas Gold Mining Company, Volcan Compañía Minera, Sociedad Minera El Brocal and Rio Alto Mining.

He presided over the Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru (IIMP) in the periods 2016 – 2018 and 2020 – 2022.
