Billboard unveiled its list of “The 100 Best Songs of 2023: Staff Picks” on December 8 (KST), recognizing the outstanding contributions of K-pop artists, including NewJeans, FIFTY FIFTY and BTS’s Jungkook .

NewJeans took the 38th spot with the title track “Super Shy” from their second mini-album “Get Up”. The billboard said, “NewJeans arrived on the global scene this year seemingly fully formed, already looking and sounding like pop superstars. But even for them, ‘Super Shy’ is a cut above, a song that integrates cutting-edge production elements from around the world for an unrequited-crush song with songwriting and performance that is stable enough to work with virtually no plugging. The synth twinkles are beautiful, Jersey club inspired elements.

Fifty fifty claimed the 50th position with the title “Cupid” from their first single album. The billboard commented, “One of the most confusing pop songs of 2023, the breakout single for girl group FIFTY FIFTY was so unstoppable that it became the first top 10 hit on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart for a South Korean group not named BTS. . It’s not hard to see why: ‘Kupido’ mixes disco, pop and rap more effortlessly than any song since ‘Say So’, with an unstoppable energy, a five-star chorus and — can it be ? — yes, even the late song key change.”

Meanwhile, the top spot for “The 100 Best Songs of 2023” went to “Kill Bill” by SZA. The “What was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish took 2nd place, and Bizarrap & Shakira’s “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” took third place.
