Nebraska Former Carolina Panthers Coach Matt Rowley His vacant position as football coach, according to sources familiar with the talks. Here’s what you need to know:
- Rolle, 47, was at or near the top of the Cornhuskers’ scoring list in recent weeks before being fired by the Leopards on Oct. 10. Nebraska fired former head coach Scott Frost on Sept. 11.
- Sources said Rowley was offered the job earlier this month and then returned to Nebraska this week with a strong package.
- The parties are working out the details. Nebraska is optimistic a deal can be reached later this week to name it its head coach.
- Former Huskers assistant coach Mickey Joseph served as Nebraska’s interim coach and led the Huskers to a 24-17 victory at Iowa on Friday in the season finale.
Talks between Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts and Rolle intensified this month, with gate transfer activity set to resume in early December. The early signing period opens after two weeks.
For Raoul Temple and Baylor, a revival program from 2013 to 2019, he won 10 or more games in three of his seven seasons, and is viewed by outsiders as a home run. He is from New York and has trained on the East Coast with all but one season in New York City. his stints at the University of California and Baylor as an assistant, but is familiar with the Big Ten as a former Pennsylvania State
Rhule also flourished in an unfamiliar environment in Texas, where he helped rebuild the Bears after a sexual abuse scandal threatened to destroy the program.
His contract in Carolina also increased his appeal to the Alberts. Rhule signed a seven-year, $62 million contract in 2020 and is owed more than $40 million at the end of the contract. Whatever salary Rouleau’s next employer pays is deducted from the Panthers’ dues, so the program can get a relative deal in Rouleau for the first four seasons of his contract.
After defeating Iowa, Nebraska finished the season 4–8. Albert’s was in Iowa City. The Nebraska Eddie sophomore, originally from Eastern Iowa, traveled separately from the Huskers for the final game of the season. An introductory press conference in Lincoln for Raoul could take place on Sunday. Nebraska officials, without direct instruction from Alberts regarding timing, put the Hawks’ championship location to use in organizing the recruiting event.
