Spotify’s new set of custom playlists, called “Niche Mixes,” connecting a friendly audience with yet-to-be-discovered music, aims to accompany any specific activity or time of day of the user.
The music platform already offers personalized playlists, created by the application itself, where users can listen to music according to their mood, feelings or discovering new artists, such as “Mod Mixes” or “Genre Mixes” games.
Now, Spotify has added Niche Mixes to Spotify Mixes so that, no matter what time or activity users are doing, they can accompany it with the usual playlists that “offer all Mixes in a fun way.”
As the platform explains in a presentation on its blog, Spotify created this feature to give listeners “ten thousand exclusive mixes” from “almost anything you can think of”, from songs to play while driving to a jogging list to the music of the 80s.
Specifically, these Custom Mixes use Spotify’s algorithm to match music from artists, genres, and decades that listeners are already listening to with songs that fit the list and are yet to be discovered. Also, every Mix will be updated with new songs every day.
To access these playlists, the user must go to the ‘Search’ tab and click on the ‘done for you’ center. Thus, the audience will be able to find between five and ten mixes through the platform according to their taste.
Also, if you want to search for a list of a specific activity or environment, you only need to describe the moment in the search bar and add the word “mix” at the end. Spotify emphasizes that the more mixes searched, the more music can be found.
The new Niche Mixes game player has now been released globally to both free users and subscribers, although it will only appear with English searches.
