The University of St. Thomas announced on Wednesday that it will cooperate with KSTP-AM 1500/SKOR North to broadcast sports games this season, including football and hockey.
After 99 years as a founding member of the Minnesota Tertiary Sports Intercollegiate Conference, St. Thomas began its first season as an NCAA Tier 1 program.
You can listen to selected games live on KSTP-AM 1500 and KSTP-FM 94.5 HD-2.
The school stated that this includes men’s basketball and various women’s games.
Corbu Stathes will be the voice of Tommy’s football and men’s basketball games. The Colorado native has 20 years of broadcaster experience, including 14 seasons of Gophers women’s basketball spokesperson. He is also the studio host of Gopher Football and has played for Gopher Volleyball and the Sao Paulo Saints. The first live broadcast will be the season opener of Tommy’s football team, which is scheduled to be held at Michigan Technological University at noon on September 11.
“Engstone. Thomas Athletics is very pleased to work with KSTP-AM 1500 and Hubbard Radio to distribute Tommie competitions during our first year of launching DI Athletics,” said Phil Esten, Vice President and Director of Athletics. “The Hubbard family has close ties with St. Thomas, and KSTP has a long history of distributing sports in our region. We look forward to expanding the relationship through this agreement.”
The University of St. Thomas is the first NCAA institution to directly transfer all track and field teams from Level III to Level I in a single season. The Tommy team has started competing in four conferences in all 21 sports: Summit League (18 sports); Vanguard Football League; Western University Hockey Association (WCHA) Women’s Hockey; and Central University Hockey Association (CCHA) Men’s Hockey.
