State senators, 7 other women accuse Trump-backed Nebraska government candidate of groping

A GOP Nebraska state senator and seven other women have accused Donald Trump of-Supported Republican gubernatorial candidate Charles Herbster accused him of groping.

Trump has praised Herbster, who considers himself a born-again Christian.Strong supporter of America FirstDonald Trump Jr. was with Herbster at a campaign stop in the state earlier this week. “You’ve seen how powerful a good conservative leadership can be in the governor’s office across America,” the former president’s son said.

Herbster, the owner and CEO of The Conklin Company and occasional beauty pageant judge, has denied the allegations.

He is currently the frontrunner for the Nebraska gubernatorial seat, even though he has never held a political position. He reportedly gave $1.3 million to Trump’s campaigns, and attended a January 6, 2021 rally outside the Capitol with members of Trump’s inner circle.

Republican State Sen. Julie Slama confirmed to the Nebraska examiner that Herbster “reached her skirt without her consent and touched her inappropriately.

It took place in a crowded ballroom at the annual “Elephant Remembers” dinner hosted by the Douglas County Republican Party, according to the newspaper. The incident was first reported by an eyewitness.

That witness and two others said they saw Herbster groping another woman in the same incident.

Six other women have also reported similar attacks. According to the Examiner, all the incidents happened between 2017 and this year, which corroborated six of the eight reports with the accounts of witnesses.

The former mayor of Omaha reportedly asked in response to the allegations that he wanted to put Slama on the witness stand and asked him what he was wearing when he was groped.

In a tweet on Thursday, Herbster called the allegations “outrageous fake news”, and added: “I have respected and strong woman To run my company, my farm and now my campaign.

All 13 female state senators in the Nebraska legislature, including five Republicans, issued a statement Thursday recognizing the “highly credible, substantiated allegations.”

“We applaud the brave women who have stepped forward to tell the truth about what they endured at the hands of Charles Herbster, including our friend and colleague, Senator Julie Slama,” the statement said.

“Sexual assault is despicable and harmful,” the statement said. “It’s not a question of politics – it’s an issue of character and basic human decency.” The statement concluded that Herbster’s actions “made him unfit to serve”.

Under Nebraska state law, inappropriately touching the outside of a person’s clothing without their consent is third-degree sexual assault.

Critics on Twitter predicted that the allegations against Herbster would not distract Trump or shake his support. Dozens of women have accused Trump of sexual misconduct. He was also recorded boasting about “catching” women “by the cat”.
