The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking at signing a veteran linebacker, adding another gritty hitter to their defense.
Linebackers joining the Pittsburgh Steelers make sense. It doesn’t matter how many of them, how old or young, as long as they are a linebacker.
This offseason, the Steelers made a conscious decision to clear house at inside linebacker, allowing walks Robert Spillane and Devin Bush and cutting Myles Jacks.
The team is looking to fill the last remaining spots on its 90-man off-season roster before training camp begins, and one free-agent linebacker caught Pittsburgh’s attention: former Jets player Kwon Alexander.
According to Adam Schefter, the Steelers will be playing host to Alexander on Monday night.

Alexander could play a rotating role on the inside defense alongside Allendon Roberts and Cole Holcomb and would certainly represent an upgrade on the depth chart.
The Steelers Would Be Interested In Free Agent LB Kwon Alexander
Split time in his NFL career in the 2015 fourth round on four different teams, most recently playing with the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets.
In 2022 with the Jets, Alexander recorded 69 tackles, along with one forced fumble and one pass defensed; He appeared in all 17 games and established himself as a skilled hitter with slightly more consistency than longtime Jets veteran CJ Mosley.
However, Alexander clearly didn’t make enough of an impact for the Jets to re-sign him, and he entered free agency last season as one of the best linebackers available on the market.
The Steelers could benefit from Alexander’s smart leadership and wisdom, though the fit has to be mutual. No one can tell how Alexander Terrell will fit into Austin’s defensive scheme, and he may still play the field at this stage of the offseason.
Stay tuned for more updates on Alexander’s condition in Pittsburgh.
