STEM Showcase geared to educate teachers, parents and students

Interesting events and activities are outlined for the inaugural Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Showcase ’22 on September 2 and 3 at Han Chiang High School.

Richard Chung Chok Yin, general manager of Penang STEM, said that after the success of the Maker’s Fair of Han Chiang High School in 2019, it was proposed to hold the showcase.

“However, the plans were disrupted in the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“With the recent reopening of schools, discussions have resumed to hold the event,” he said.

Workshops, activities and competitions will be organized for secondary school students on the first day of the showcase.

On the second day, there will be more family-focused programs and activities for all ages, including elementary school students.

Parents will also be able to participate in a variety of talks offering insight into STEM academics and career options.

Key sessions include motivating students towards STEM excellence (through the Grand STEM Challenge for Lower Secondary), driving student innovation (through the STEM Innovation Showcase for Senior Secondary), Penang’s FIZ (through the Corporate Technology Showcase) Showcasing Technologies from, Sparking Interests in STEM (Through STEM Experiences) and Inspiring Interests in STEM-Learning (through over 20 STEM workshop sessions).
