Several customers who bought scratch-off lottery tickets at a store in Gladwin, Michigan, discovered that the tickets had already been taken. of the worker, named Jennifer Wallace.
The woman is now facing serious charges.
The Sukh 21 liquor store, located east of the town of Gladwin, generated 19 customer complaints with the Michigan Lottery. In June, an investigator visited the establishment to investigate these matters.
“At the lottery, we have a security division that handles all kinds of cases involving lottery tickets,” said Michigan Lottery spokesman Jake Harris.
Initially, the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office was tasked with reviewing complaints filed by customers of Sukh 21 Liquor.
Sheriff Mike Shea said his department has received complaints about money tampering. and that complaints have also been filed with the Michigan Lottery Commission.
Investigators believe Wallace quietly took some of the tickets before selling them. He apparently claimed the prizes on the winning tickets and then resold the winning tickets.
The police say that Jennifer Wallace, 41, a former store employee, is now facing theft charges over $1,000 and theft, both felonies.
