UVALDE, Texas ( Associated Press) — A Texas elementary school survivor said she covered herself with a friend’s blood and pretended to die while waiting for help to arrive.
11-year-old Mia Cerillo told Nation World News That she and a friend called 911 on Tuesday from the phone of their deceased teacher and waited three hours for officers to arrive at Rob Elementary School in Uvalde.
18-year-old shooter Salvador Ramos was inside the school for more than an hour Before he was shot dead by Border Patrol tactical officers. This is according to top law enforcement officials who provided new details on Thursday. A confusing and sometimes contradictory timeline that has angered and disappointed parents and onlookers urging police to charge the school.
Mia said that as the shooter moved from one room to the next, he heard screams and a lot of gunshots and the gunman started playing music.
The survivors of an attack that killed 19 schoolchildren and two teachers described a festive day at the end of school that quickly turned into terror.
Samuel Salinas, 10, told ABC’s “Good Morning America” That he and other classmates pretended to be dead after Ramos opened fire on the class. Samuel died of shrapnel in his thigh.
“He shot the teacher and then he shot the kids,” said Samuel, who was in Irma Garcia’s class. Garcia was killed in the attack and her husband Joe Garcia died on Thursday an apparent heart attack.
10-year-old Gemma Lopez was in a classroom down the hall when Ramos entered the building. She told “Good Morning America” that a bullet went through the wall of her classroom before any lockdown was called.
