Rheinmetall and Elbit Systems perform a live-fire demonstration of a 155 mm self-propelled howitzer, marking a milestone in military innovation.
The event took place at Shivta Firing Range, Israel and was attended by senior officials from various countries including United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands and Hungary.
Rheinmetall and Elbit Systems have entered into a cooperative agreement for the development and manufacture of an automated 155 mm wheeled self-propelled howitzer system. This joint project, known as “Rheinmetall Elbit”, would compete in modernization programs for artillery capabilities, such as the German “Züksisindf” and the British “Mobile Fire Platform”.
Cutting edge technology
The synergy between Rheinmetall and Elbit has allowed the integration of the Rheinmetall gun into Elbit Systems’ fully robotic turret. Thanks to Elbit’s previous acquisition programs, a mature system is already in place that has facilitated this integration and accelerated the development of the joint project.
Boosting Tubular Artillery Capability
The Rheinmetall-Elbit self-propelled howitzer system provides an extraordinary new tubular artillery capability. Featuring Rheinmetall’s L52 gun and the highly mobile HX 10×10 tactical truck, this system ensures battle-proven effectiveness. In addition, work is underway on the development of the L60 cannon, which will be able to reach a range of up to 83 km.

The leaders of Rheinmetall and Elbit expressed their satisfaction at the progress made in this German-Israeli cooperation.
