Sugar Diaz misses out on her second save chance in four days as the Mets fall for the Nationals

Washington. Carter Keeboom and Andrew Stevenson hit an RBI single from Puerto Rican near Edwin Diaz in the ninth, and the Washington Nationals once again defeated the New York Mets 4–3 in the final game of the five-match series.

The Nations, who had lost eight of their last nine matches, were 1–for–14 with the runners-up in the first scoring position from ninth.

Pete Alonso hit his 30th home run of the season for New York, now four games behind Atlanta in the NL East.

A series marked by a return with one of the home team was decided.

With a 3–2 lead, Diaz moved the first three batters she encountered before Stevenson’s single into right field. Kiboom later singles it to the center for the winning run.

It was the second time in four days that Diaz (5-5) missed a save. He is 1-3 with 12.71 ERA in 10 games with the Mets at National Park.

For the Mets, Puerto Ricans Francisco Lindor and Javier Baez scored 5-2 with one score and 4-2 with one score, respectively.
