Despite all these negative consequences that, in addition to self-esteem for women who suffer from it, difficulty attending social activities, sleep disturbances and anxiety, the ARS in the country does not cover the cost of breast reduction surgery, which is alone. the solution to this health problem.
Moved by this situation, with the hundreds of cases he receives through his Vargas Almonte Foundation, the plastic and reconstructive surgeon Orlando Vargas was responsible for this surgical procedure to be covered by the ARS.
In the forum “My cattle are not paradise”, which he held on the Zoom platform, he mentioned that the World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not only the absence of disease or illness.
“It is clearly defined that we are against the disease, breast hypertrophy and gigantomastia are diseases that are accompanied by signs and symptoms. We must demand that the social security of our country include these diseases in the provision of services.
Likewise, Vargas Almonte stated that awareness campaigns should be carried out in these evils, so that the state can help women and men who live with the disease every day.
