Sushmita became the winner of the 43rd Miss Universe contest held in the Philippines. Before Sushmita, no Indian woman had received this title in the Miss Universe competition.

Sushmita Sen said- I will never go to college. This was a concern that always haunted my father. He used to tell me daughter, whatever you want to do, do it but get your degree first.

Sushmita said- When my father found out that I had to wear a swimsuit in the beauty contest, his anger increased. Then I explained to him emotionally. I said that wearing a swimsuit is part of the contest. Still his attitude did not change.
However, when I won the Miss India title, they got a little interested. When I participated in Miss Universe, she was very proud. As a soldier, he felt proud that I would bring glory to the country. Then later they understood those things.
