SUV sinks into residential pool

A homeowner in suburban Miami, Florida, had a rough night Friday when a pickup truck ended up in his in-ground pool.

William Marts, who lives in North Lauderdale, had to play hero to save the two occupants of the vehicle, before being hospitalized due to increased blood pressure.

“We heard a huge noise. “I thought there was lightning behind the house, so I went to look and it looked like there was a tidal wave in my pool,” Mr. Marts said.

That’s when he realized that a Ford Explorer had sunk in the water of his pool.

At first dazed, the man jumped into the water to help the people in the SUV.

First he went to see the driver.

“I was breathing and drooling, but at least I could breathe. “Then I realized there was a girl in the back of the vehicle,” William Marts said.

It was at that moment when a policewoman, who was returning home after her work day, saw the scene and went to help the owner of the pool break the vehicle window and get the driver and the child out. , both trapped in the truck.

The two occupants of the Ford Explorer are out of danger.

A few hours later, divers hooked the vehicle to a crane and lifted it out of the water.

Meanwhile, William Marts had to go to hospital after feeling unwell due to a sudden rise in his blood pressure. Fortunately, he was discharged quickly and now he is feeling much better.

Mr. Marts, however, wants the City to do more to secure the street corner where his residence is located.

He claims that many incidents occur in his land.

“Every weekend there is an accident. They broke down my fence seven times,” says William Marts.

He requests the installation of a cement barrier to prevent vehicles from skidding near his house.
