Svensson maintains lead in PGA Tour’s Barbasol Championships

Nicholsville, Q. ( Associated Press) — Adam Svensson shot 5-under 67 and took a three-stroke lead in the Barbasol Championships after second-round play at the water-filled Keene Tres on Friday was suspended due to darkness.

Swenson’s total was 15-under 129 at Keene Trace, where a mid-day storm was followed by dense morning fog. The game was delayed for a total of 5 hours, 20 minutes, with half the field unable to finish the round.

The rain softened the greens even more than in the first round, where two-thirds of the field shot equal or better. It also made the 7,328-yard layout longer, although Svensson continued to set the pace with seven birdies that offset bogeys in par-4 third and par-3 16th. He shot 10-under 62 on Thursday.

“The greens were still rolling well, but they were just wet so you had to hit a lot of soft shots into the green and a lot of sticky iron shots or wedges,” said the Canadian, who drove to his car for an hour. Took a nap. a delay.

Trey Mullinex scored a 20-foot run for the birdie on the par-4 13th and reached 13 under to end his day.

Mark Hubbard (67), Robin Russell (68) and Brandon Hagee (62) were at 12 under, while Tom Lewis (four holes left) were also at 12 under Jonathan Bird (five holes left), Matty Schmid (eight holes left) ) and Max McGreevy (nine holes remaining).

Heggy started at No 10 and eagled the par-4 18th hole with a 148-yard shot from left rough with a 50-degree gap wedge.

“I was on the rough side slope and it was a left pin, so there wasn’t a lot of stuff going for me,” Heggy said. “But I caught a good lie and when I hit it my caddy thought it was a little too much and I was like, ‘No, I think that’s great.’ It just landed, took a hop and went straight into the hole, so it was great.”
