The petition had over 49,000 signatures.
There was no official explanation given as to why West dropped out.
However, he had previously threatened in a deleted Instagram post on February 10 that his Coachella set would be canceled if fellow headliner Billie Eilish did not apologize to rapper Travis Scott.
West had said that Eilish had insulted Scott — whom West had planned to bring to Coachella — when he stopped a concert in February to help a fan get an inhaler.
In the clip from Eilish’s concert, the Grammy winner says, “I wait for people to recover until I move on. Some news outlets interpreted the remarks as a jab at Scott, who was performing at the Astroworld festival in Houston last November as the crowd panicked. Ten people died in the crush and scores were injured.
“Never actually said anything about Travis,” she wrote in a comment below West’s post in response to the allegations. “Was just helping a fan.”
