Swiss U20 selection without chance against USA
After a narrow opening loss against Sweden, the Swiss U20 national team has faced a heartbreaking bankruptcy against the United States. Marco Bayer’s team lost 7-1.
At the Ice Hockey Junior World Championships in Edmonton, the Swiss U20 team suffered their second loss, a 7–1 loss against the United States in the second game.
In a test match just before the World Cup, the Swiss had no chance against the USA team. This time he tied 1-1 till the 32nd minute, but then scored four goals in the last eight minutes of the second period. By the bitter end, six of the seven American goals were accounted for by the first American offensive line. Joel Henry (GCK Lions) scored the Swiss goal for a 1–1 draw with a fine individual performance.
The Swiss juniors will play against Germany and Austria in the next few days to reach the quarter-finals. Defender Noah Delemont (Beale) was the 26th and last player registered for the tournament prior to the game against the United States. Joel Marchone (Jug) has to prematurely start his journey home as a Swiss surplus.
