Salman Khan has released the trailer of Gippy Grewal’s Punjabi film Maujaan Hi Maujaan. He also spoke to the media at the trailer launch event. Said that the starting point for films now should not be Rs 100 crore but Rs 1000 crore. Salman has made 16 films that grossed more than Rs 100 crore. Next to him in this list is Akshay Kumar. The host asked Salman that he is the poster boy of the 100 crore club. Now, Punjabi films also earn Rs 100 million. Gippy’s previous film ‘Carry On Jatta 3’ became the first 100 crore film in the history of Punjabi cinema. Salman replied:
I feel that the amount of Rs 100 Crore is now considered as a lower level of income. Now films of every industry will earn 400, 500 and 600 crores. Apart from Punjabi industry and Hindi industry, Marathi industry films earn this kind of money. Earning 100 Crore Rupees is no longer a big deal. Now we should assume that the earning limit of any film is Rs 1000 crore.
Salman further said that Gippy’s upcoming film will be a huge earner. To this, the host added that if Salman said it, it will definitely happen. Salman then takes a dig at himself and says:
Don’t go after me, brother. Go to the top of the image. These days my own predictions for my own films don’t pan out.
Salman was asked how his first conversation with Gippy went and how he liked her. Salman replied:
I have seen his (Gippy Grewal) work. I saw his face. Kindness is written all over his face. You can never go wrong with a face like that. The shadow of the heart is visible on the face. He is very sweet and also very close. I started my career with Man ji (Manmohan Desai). The whole of Punjab had come here. Now the whole of Punjab has returned there. Dutt Sahab (Sunil Dutt) was here. Manoj ji (Manoj Kumar) was here. Many actors came from Punjab and founded the Hindi film industry. I worked with Veeru ji, Ajay Devgan’s father. Worked with Jai Paaji (action director Jai Singh Nijjar) and Sham Kaushal. The best people in Punjab worked here. When we started our career, the talent of Punjab was there. Now his children work in Punjab. Good work is being done there.
Salman was asked if artists like Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan and Raj Babbar had worked in Punjabi films. Will he ever do Punjabi films? Salman replied that he would like to do a 1000% Punjabi film. He wants to make not just Punjabi but also Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films that have global appeal. Talking about Salman’s upcoming films, Tiger 3 will release in November 2023. After that, he will do Vishnu Vardhan’s action film. At the same time, we will also start working on Tiger vs Pathan.
