In New York, the Pashtun Tahfuz Movement (PTM) has protested against the illegal detention of Ali Wazir and Pakistan’s proxy war in Afghanistan. Ali Wazir was reportedly speaking out against human rights abuses and military repression in Pakistan.
The PTM (Pashtun Tahafuz Movement) said in a statement that party members in New York and Connecticut attended a large number of car rallies on Saturday (July 1, 2021). They demanded the immediate release of Ali Wazir and an end to the Pakistani proxy war in Afghanistan. He said the vizier had been placed in illegal custody after Pashtuns raised their voices for a peaceful life.
“It is illegal to continue detaining Ali Wazir because it was ordered by General Bajwa,” said Himmat, a PTM USA leader. He said it shows that the courts of Pakistan are not independent and we cannot expect justice from judges controlled by the military.
He added that the National Assembly of Pakistan ordered a rubber stamp and a rally on important issues of the country’s powerful army. In a recent off-camera briefing, the army chief General Dr. Ali Wazir in Parliament. Blacksmith “Only after Ali apologizes can we release him,” he said.
