The President of the United States, Joe Biden, announced this Thursday a new package of military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, taking advantage of the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the White House, the third since the outbreak of the war.
During a press conference, the US President explained that this new shipment is worth $325 million – almost 305 million euros – and includes air defense capabilities, cluster munitions and anti-tank weapons.
On the other hand, according to a statement from the White House, he confirmed that the M1 Abrams tanks will arrive in Ukraine next week.
The United States will also deploy short-range air defense systems such as the Avenger or longer-range air defense systems such as the HAWK, among other hybrid systems that combine Western and Ukrainian interceptors.
However, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan stated in a press conference that Biden remains committed not to sending long-range ATACMS missiles (although he does not rule it out in the future) because they could reach Russian territory that is not approved by Washington
Zelensky himself announced on social networks that both countries “will cooperate in the production of weapons and defense systems.”
According to Biden, this new aid package will “protect Ukraine, its grain silos, hospitals, schools and power plants.” “It will help save Ukrainian lives,” he said.
Likewise, the American president reiterated that “Russia is the only thing standing in the way of peace” and denounced that “what they have done to the children” of Ukrainians is “simply criminal.”

Zelensky, in turn, thanked the new American delivery. “All these days they are with us, with Ukrainians, with ordinary people,” said a Ukrainian leader, who called the meeting with Biden “productive.”
