On July 7, “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” will be released, a re-recording of the 2010 Celebrity Dedication album.
As Taylor Swift recently announced, “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version),” a re-recording from the 2010 album “Speak Now,” will be released on July 7. Over the years, Taylor has re-recorded some of her early albums, due to the fact that the masters of the originals are owned by her old label and hence her former manager, Scooter Braun.
Despite the fact that Taylor Swift never confirms to whom each of her songs is dedicated and asks her fans to better imagine that she is talking about the personal stories of each of her followers, there are many such clues. which indicate which of his ex-partners he may have thought of when writing each of his hits.
Dear john
“Dear John” is perhaps one of the Taylor Swift songs most easily recognized as the one it is dedicated to. The song is inspired by Taylor Swift’s 2010 relationship with fellow singer John Mayer. In the song, Swift describes how toxic her relationship with Mayer was and the large age difference between them.
Back to December
Taylor Lautner is probably one of Taylor Swift’s ex-partners who is most adored by fans, (next to Joe Alwyn). In “Back to December”, Taylor apologizes to Taylor Lautner for not appreciating her during their relationship.
“I miss your tan skin, your sweet smile” (“I miss your tan skin, your sweet smile”) describes Lautner perfectly. Furthermore, in another part of the song he says “And how you held me in your arms on that September night, the first time you saw me cry” (“And how you held me in your arms on that September night, The first time you ever saw me cry” did you see me cry”), referencing the incident at the VMAs where Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech.
Magic
In “Enchanted”, Taylor tells the story of how she met a man and fell in love with him at first sight, wishing she would meet in return. The song is inspired by Adam Young of the group Owl City. Although, as usual, Taylor never confirmed or denied anything, Adam Young himself released his own version of “Enchanted” saying that Taylor’s crush was mutual. However, the romance between them could never materialise.
Last Kiss
After dedicating a few songs to Joe Jonas on her “Fearless” album, Taylor Swift still had a lot to say to the ex-boyfriend who broke up with her over a phone call. The whole “Speak Now” album was about making different confessions to myself that I had never been able to do.
“Las Kisses” is one of the saddest breakup songs in Taylor’s entire discography, and it also has one of the fan-favorite bridges. “And I feel you forget me the way I used to feel your breath,” Taylor sings in the most emotional part of the song.
One of the clues in “Last Kiss” about Joe Jonas is that the introduction lasts 27 seconds, the same number of seconds Taylor says it took Joe to end their relationship over the phone.
Better than revenge
“Better Than Revenge” is without a doubt one of the most controversial and most canceled songs in the entire Taylor Swift discography. The lyrics have been criticized as macho, for being dedicated to the woman who “stole her boyfriend”, and slut-shaming (instead of blaming her own ex-partner).
It is rumored that “Better Than Revenge” is dedicated to Camilla Belle, who was Joe Jonas’ partner after he ended his relationship with Taylor Swift. One of the most controversial lines is when she sings “She’s not a saint, she’s not who you think, she’s an actress. She’s known for the things she does on the mattress.”
